RADIOLOGY POLICY
- This practice operates a radiology policy for the safety and protection of staff and patients. This policy is based upon the "Guidance notes for the Dental Practitioners on the safe use of x-ray equipment" issued June 2001 (The Guidelines) and the requirements of the ionising regulations regulating 1999 and the ionising radiation (medical exposure) Regulations 2000.
- All staff involved in the taking and development of radiographs will be trained to a level appropriate to their involvement and that training will be recorded.
- All radiographic equipment will be installed in accordance with the Guidelines.
- All radiographic equipment will be serviced and maintained in accordance with the Guidelines and the manufacturers' recommendations.
- All policies and procedures are reviewed and monitored on a regular basis in accordance with the Guidelines.
- A quality assurance system for radiographic system is in place and will be reviewed as necessary.
- A Radiation Protection File will be maintained.
- Clinical audit of radiographic processes will be carried out at intervals recommended in the guidelines.
- The practice has appointed a Radiation Protection Adviser who will provide regular advise to the legal person.
- The legal person responsible for implementing radiology policy at this practice is
